These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Leafscan mobile application (the "App"), which lets you measure leaf area from photos entirely on your own device. By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.

In these Terms, "we", "us", and "our" refer to the developers of Leafscan, and "you" refers to the person using the App.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing or using the App, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. These Terms apply to all users of the App in all countries where it is available.

If you are using the App on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to accept these Terms on its behalf.

2. The Service

Leafscan is an offline, on-device tool that processes photos to estimate leaf area and lets you save measurement records ("logs") in a local notebook on your device. The App:

• Runs entirely on your device and performs all image processing locally.

• Does not require an account or sign-in.

• Does not send your photos, measurements, or personal data to us or to any server.

• Stores your data locally on your device, under your control.

We provide the App "as is" and may add, change, or remove features over time.

3. License

Subject to these Terms, we grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use the App on devices you own or control, for your personal or internal business use.

Your use of the App is also subject to the rules of the platform or app store from which you obtained it (for example, the Apple App Store or Google Play). In case of conflict between these Terms and the applicable app store terms regarding distribution, the app store terms control for that distribution channel.

4. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

• Copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense, or lease the App, except as permitted by applicable law or the App's open-source license terms (if any).

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, except to the extent such restriction is prohibited by applicable law.

• Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation.

• Attempt to interfere with, disrupt, or circumvent the security or intended operation of the App.

You are solely responsible for the photos and content you process and for ensuring you have the right to use any images you import into the App.

5. Your Data and Content

All photos, measurements, labels, and other content you create or import remain on your device and under your control. We do not access, collect, or store this content. You are responsible for:

• The content you scan, import, and store.

• Backing up your own data; we cannot recover data stored only on your device.

• Any data you choose to export (for example, to a CSV file) and share with third parties.

6. Measurement Accuracy Disclaimer

Leafscan provides estimates of leaf area based on image processing and the reference object and settings you provide. Results depend on factors such as photo quality, lighting, camera angle, the accuracy of the reference object's stated dimensions, and your chosen settings.

Measurements are not guaranteed to be exact. The App is provided as a measurement aid and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for any decision where accuracy is critical, including scientific, agricultural, commercial, medical, legal, or financial decisions. You are responsible for verifying results and using independent judgment. We are not liable for any consequences arising from reliance on measurements produced by the App.

7. Third-Party Links and Services

The App may provide links that open external resources—such as our website and an online user guide—in your device's separate browser or PDF viewer. When you export data, the App may use your device's standard share or file-save features. We do not control, and are not responsible for, the content, practices, or availability of external websites or any third-party service you choose to use. Your use of those resources is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

8. Intellectual Property

The App, including its software, design, text, graphics, and logos, is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. The App incorporates third-party open-source components, which remain subject to their respective licenses. Except for the limited license granted in the License section, these Terms do not grant you any rights in the App or our intellectual property.

The measurement data and images you create with the App belong to you.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the App is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that any defects will be corrected, or that results obtained from the App will be accurate or reliable.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties, so some of the above exclusions may not apply to you.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will we be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, profits, revenue, or goodwill, arising out of or relating to your use of (or inability to use) the App, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, our total aggregate liability arising out of or relating to the App or these Terms will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid for the App, if any, or (b) USD 10.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for certain damages, so some of the above limitations may not apply to you. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any applicable law or the rights of any third party.

12. Termination

These Terms apply while you use the App. You may end them at any time by ceasing to use and uninstalling the App. We may suspend or terminate your license if you breach these Terms. Upon termination, the license granted in Section 3 ends, but Sections that by their nature should survive (including Sections 6, 8, 9, 10, and 11) will continue to apply.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes in the App or legal requirements. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and make the updated Terms available (for example, within the App or on our website). Your continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

14. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable in the place where the developers are established, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles, except where mandatory consumer-protection laws of your country of residence provide otherwise. Nothing in these Terms deprives you of the protection of mandatory provisions of the law of the country in which you reside.
